Chad left the Bay Area for the other coast and opened Salon Jack, in the heart of South Tampa, in 2004. The award-winning studio, known for its group approach to great hair and a loyal clientele of locals and longtime customers from San Francisco, earned praise for donating much of their time to charitable causes.
Chad apprenticed at Manhattan's famed Bumble and Bumble salon as an educator, traveling extensively for fashion shoots and magazine photo sessions while learning the latest cutting and styling trends. Stints at Bumble and Bumble led to an opportunity on the West Coast, where the California native opened up Claude Nine at 9 Claude Lane in San Francisco's fashionable French Quarter.
Chad's shears have worked their magic on a star-studded list of celebrities and models, earning him a coveted following among fashion editors at Cosmopolitan, Allure, Harper's Bazaar, and Modern Bride; all of which have featured his work. His styles have been showcased in countless trade publications and city-living magazines. Chad has appeared on national television in makeover segments for TLC, MTV...
Chad is a trend scholar. He's inspired by European fashion magazines and the runway but insists that you must know the rules before breaking them. "If you don't have a classic foundation, you can't be trendy and punchy," Chad says. "A haircut won't work without the technical knowledge. The flair comes from education."
Each haircut is a creative process that begins with a collaborative consultation between the Chad and his clients. After a concept is established and the hair is shampooed, the art begins. "It's never a 15-minute haircut," Chad says. "It's going to take an hour of section-by-section detail and a blow dry until it works well, moves, bounces and the proportion, weight distribution and balance are dialed in.
