2022 Winter Open Studios
Returning for its 53rd year is the most highly anticipated art and artist’s event of the year, the 2022 Winter Open Studios at the historic ICB Building on Sausalito, California’s working waterfront. Under the ICB’s dramatic curved roof, with exposed beams and spectacular views of the SF Bay, 100+ artists of every stripe - sculptors, abstract and figurative painters, photographers, fiber artists, jewelers, sound installation and more feed off of one another’s creative energy.

Gallerists and Designers find Winter Open Studios at the ICB to be the one art event each year not to be missed. Visitors to Winter Open Studios find that a huge added plus to the event is being able to hear the story behind the art directly from the artist. Travelers from as far away as New York, Washington state, Los Angeles and Charleston, SC plan their Bay Area trips around Winter Open Studios.

With such a unique art community it’s no surprise that artists can sometimes wait for years to join the ICB Building. The artists who work in the building, which had its start as a WWII shipbuilding warehouse, have created a cooperative, professional environment. On any given day, you might find artists convening in the halls to preview one another’s work, offering critique on stuck points in a painting or figuring out carpools to support someone’s latest gallery opening.

“Not a week goes by that someone doesn’t contact me to say how much they wish they could be in a place like this. No lonely struggling artists here. We’re too busy working, laughing and upping one another’s game”, says Rachel Davis, whose work celebrating women has been exhibited in the De Young and Triton Museums.

With so many notable and talented artists in the building, It’s no wonder ICB artists work has been exhibited and collected in museums and galleries in cities spanning the globe - from Sacramento,CA to Barcelona, Spain and everywhere in between including Asia, Australia, and even Windsor Castle.
