Halloween Reinvented

Halloween's going to be different this year, but it's still going to be fun with lots of creative activities to choose from for both kids and adults.

Blue Moon San Francisco Bay Sail
Sail aboard the Freda B on a moonrise sail that celebrates the moon rising during sunset and the upcoming blue moon on Halloween. Boarding is at 4:45 p.m.  for the two-hour cruise on San Francisco Bay. $125. Space is limited.

Cornerstone Sonoma
Scarecrows, socially-distanced treats for kids, fall-themed cocktails for grownups and a chance for photo ops in the gardens are all part of the fun at Cornerstone, noon to 5 p.m., Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31. Entry is free, but registration to reserve an entrance time is required.

Pini Hardware in Novato offers a free drive-through Trick or Treat, 2 to 4:30 p.m., behind the store. Kids, who are encouraged to wear spooky masks, will get pre-packaged goodie bags and Halloween crafts to take home.

Fright Night
Novato Theater Company celebrates Halloween with Fright Night, a Night of Magic, Music and Mayhem, a fundraiser that features local singers with horror-themed songs and two award-winning performers to amaze the audience with magical tricks and tale tales. An online auction featuring a range of items from handmade jigsaw puzzles to live crabs will be open through October 28.

Goblin Jamboree
The Bay Area Discovery Museum has planned a series of themed activities leading up to Halloween, and they require reservations for specific timeslots. Space is limited, and some days are sold out. The sponsor breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m., Sat., Oct. 24, starts at $275 for a family of four.

Marin Center Halloween Fair Food Drive-Thru Spooktakular
Drive to the Marin Center in costume and get spooked with family-friendly activities and Halloween surprises that you can enjoy from your car. Fair food, such as black and orange cotton candy, churros and funnel cake will also be available. $10 per car.

MTC offers a storytelling workshop with a Halloween theme on Saturday, October 31, on Zoom. Chidlren in first through fifth grade and their families will experience the joy of bringing together the worlds of storytelling and theatre together through creative play, games, crafts and their own imaginations. Murphy Productions hosts a special edition of their regular Saturday Salon to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve, Día de los Muertos, Samhain, Harvest and Autumn. Virtual Halloween
San Rafael Recreation and San Rafael Library present A Virtual Halloween with photos of Spooktacular Houses and a Halloween Pet Parade and activities that include Twisted Trivia Tuesday on Zoom on Tuesday, October 27, and Boo-Tacular Bingo on Zoom on Wednesday, October 28.
